Health and Safety Policy

1. Introduction

John and Van Services Ltd (“the Company”) is committed to ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all its employees, contractors, and any other persons who may be affected by its operations. This policy outlines the Company’s commitment to health and safety and the measures put in place to ensure a safe working environment.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all employees, contractors, and third parties engaged in work on behalf of the Company. It covers all activities and operations conducted by the Company.

3. Health and Safety Objectives

The Company aims to:

  • Prevent accidents and work-related ill health.
  • Comply with all relevant health and safety legislation and regulations.
  • Provide adequate training to ensure employees are competent to perform their work safely.
  • Engage and consult with employees on matters affecting their health and safety.
  • Implement emergency procedures, including evacuation in case of fire or other significant incidents.
  • Maintain safe and healthy working conditions, provide and maintain plant, equipment, and machinery, and ensure safe storage/use of substances.

4. Responsibilities

  • Management: The management team is responsible for the implementation of this policy and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. They will:

    • Ensure adequate resources are provided to meet health and safety objectives.
    • Conduct regular risk assessments and implement necessary controls.
    • Ensure all accidents, incidents, and near misses are reported and investigated.

    • Oversee the development, implementation, and review of health and safety policies and procedures.
    • Conduct regular health and safety audits and inspections.
    • Provide health and safety training and guidance to employees.
  • Employees: All employees are required to:

    • Take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions.
    • Co-operate with management on health and safety matters.
    • Use equipment and substances in accordance with training and instructions.
    • Report any health and safety concerns to their supervisor or the Health and Safety Officer.

5. Risk Assessment

The Company will carry out regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement appropriate control measures. The findings of the risk assessments will be recorded, and actions will be taken to mitigate any identified risks.

6. Training

The Company will provide health and safety training to all employees to ensure they are aware of their responsibilities and are competent to perform their work safely. Training will be provided at induction and refreshed periodically.

7. Emergency Procedures

Emergency procedures will be established and communicated to all employees. These will include procedures for fire evacuation, first aid, and reporting of incidents. Regular drills will be conducted to ensure readiness in case of an emergency.

8. Monitoring and Review

The Health and Safety Officer will monitor the implementation of this policy and the effectiveness of health and safety arrangements. The policy will be reviewed annually or following any significant changes to work practices or incidents.

9. Communication

Health and safety information will be communicated to all employees through training sessions, meetings, and notice boards. Employees are encouraged to provide feedback on health and safety issues and suggestions for improvement.
